The 45-year-old man who ended up at Greenlane Hospital with a gunshot wound is in a stable condition.
He was dropped off at the hospital by a blue coloured vehicle just before 5.30pm on Sunday.
Greenlane Hospital does not have an emergency ward, so the man was taken by ambulance to Auckland Hospital.
Police have been making inquiries at a number of locations as they look into exactly what happened.
