A Cambridge boy has died from injuries sustained in a car crash that claimed the life of his mother.
Jacob Henderson, aged nine, was transferred to Starship hospital in Auckland in a critical condition after the car his mother was driving hit a truck at Leamington, near Cambridge last Tuesday.
Anna Pidduck, 45, died at the scene.
Police say it appears her car drove straight into the path of an empty tar tanker at a controlled intersection.
