2:23 pm on 3 February 2012

The elder of two men accused of murdering a Radio New Zealand journalist has been further remanded in custody.

Phillip Cottrell died after being beaten as he walked home from work early on 10 December last year.

The 43-year-old never regained consciousness and died in Wellington Hospital the following day.

A hearing regarding electronic bail was to have been held for one of the accused, Nicho Waipuka, 19, on Friday morning in the Wellington District Court before Judge Denys Barry.

However, the application will now be heard on 15 February as Mr Waipuka now has a new lawyer.

Co-accused Manuel Robinson, 17, was granted electronic bail in December.
