A man has admitted drink-driving leading to an incident that left a police officer seriously injured.
Ioelu Peniamina, 44, appeared in the Waitakere District Court on Thursday accused of being twice the legal drink drive limit in Henderson.
A police officer has a broken pelvis and lower back injuries after being crushed against her own vehicle at 11pm on Wednesday.
Police say she had pulled his car over, but when she approached the vehicle it was reversed into her.
Police say they are considering whether to lay further charges.
The constable is the second police officer to be run down in July. Sergeant Derek Wootton was killed in Porirua by the driver of a stolen car.
