Police in Wellington have confirmed the identity of a woman found at Scorching Bay on Thursday.
She was Edna Mae Cairns, 75, of Karori who had been missing since Tuesday.
Detective Sergeant Corey Watts of the Wellington CIB says a formal identification and post-mortem examination was held on Friday morning.
They do not believe she was the subject of foul play and say there are no suspicious circumstances.
