The man accused of abducting an Auckland girl last month is a 25-year-old Chinese national, who was working as a real estate agent on the North Shore.

Name suppression has lapsed for Deqiong Deng, also known as Aaron Deng, who is charged with kidnapping Cina Ma with intent to hold her for ransom.

The five-year-old girl was snatched from outside her North Shore home last month and found four days later in the wardrobe of a vacant house.

Mr Deng was working for Ray White Real Estate, but staff say he is no longer employed there. He is being held in custody and is due to appear in court again on August 28.
