A primary school principal facing fraud charges has been named and his school identified.

Barry Blomfield, of Huntly West Primary, appeared in the Hamilton District Court on Monday.

He first appeared in court in February on five charges of using a document for pecuniary advantage, three of theft and two charges of theft as a servant.

The charges follow an investigation by the police and then Ministry of Education.

Interim name suppression granted to Mr Blomfield was lifted today. He is due to reappear in court on 8 October.
