A man accused of attempting to influence a juror in the Antonie Dixon trial has been denied bail and the continuation of name suppression.

Andre Joel Wilkie Mail, 28, from Howick, appeared in the Auckland District Court on Monday.

His lawyer argued that lifting suppression would be prejudicial to a future trial.

However, the Crown said it only sought the suppression while the Dixon trial was continuing, to preserve its integrity. Dixon was found guilty of murder and seven other charges last week.

The accused's lawyer has indicated the charge will be defended and says she has asked the Solicitor General to investigate the publication of details in a Sunday newspaper.
