Electrical explosion injures worker at disused mill

A worker has been airlifted from a disused sawmill on the West Coast after being injured in an electrical explosion.

A St John Ambulance spokesperson says emergency services were called to the site on Station Road, Inangahua, at 12.14pm.

An ambulance and a rescue helicopter were sent to the sawmill.

The worker was flown to Grey Base Hospital in Greymouth with moderate injuries, including burns.

The spokesperson says police and the Department of Labour are both investigating.
