Amnesty's plea to Satyanand, Cosgrove

8:42 pm on 6 August 2008

Amnesty International has asked Governor-General Anand Satyanand and Sports Minister Clayton Cosgrove to speak out on human rights in China.

The human rights watchdog says Beijing's hosting of the Olympic Games, far from improving human rights in China, has resulted in the opposite.

It says Chinese authorities have been clearing protesters off the streets of Beijing, but the Chinese government will respond to vocal international protest.
