The lawyer for one a man charged with manslaughter following a fatal car crash on Christmas Day says his client intends to defend the charges.
Merepeka Morehu Clark, who was 14, and her 13-year-old sister Brooklyn died after two cars collided on Welcome Bay Road in Tauranga last year.
Haki Davey, 18, appeared in the Tauranga District Court on Thursday and his lawyer Paul Mabey, QC, spoke on his behalf.
Two other people are charged in relation to the deaths. They are Hetaraka Reihana, aged 20, and Philippa Morehu, aged 36.
Mr Davey and Mr Reihana will next appear in the Manukau District Court on 8 March.
Ms Morehu will appear in the Tauranga District Court also on 8 March.
