Neighbourhood vigilance urged

Police in Christchurch are urging landlords and residents to be vigilant, after a methamphetamine lab was found in a suburban area.

Detective Inspector Greg Williams says police searched a house on Charles Street in Waltham, a week ago where a lab used to manufacture methamphetamine, also known as 'P', was found.

James Lines, 30, and Marsha Witehira, 32, were arrested there and charged in relation to items found for drug manufacturing.

Lines was remanded in custody and Witehira remanded on bail.

Detective Inspector Williams says the labs pose a considerable risk not only to the offenders, but also to their neighbours.

He says it is a timely reminder for landlords to be vigilant about who they let their properties to.
