More mediation talks on port next week

A fresh round of mediation talks is scheduled for next Thursday and Friday in the deadlock between Ports of Auckland and its employees.

Three hundred members of the Maritime Union began a three week strike at the container terminal on Friday.

The company is proposing to make them redundant and hire through new stevedoring contracting companies.

Union president Gary Parsloe says the members have received national and international support from other unions.
