Two men have been charged with the murder of Sameera Chandrasena in the Canterbury town of Oxford.
The two men, aged 23 and 33, are both Sri Lankan and have been in custody since Saturday on unrelated matters.
They are also charged with the arson of Mr Chandrasena's home at Domain Road in Oxford.
The body of Mr Chandrasena, 28, was found last week after a fire at the property, which he rented from his employer.
Detective Inspector Virginia Le Bas of Christchurch police says there have been a number of threads to the investigation and the police also had to deal with a crime scene that was severely fire-damaged.
She says formal identification of Mr Chandrasena has been completed and his body will be released to his family in due course.
