Australia's Maritime Union has given its New Zealand counterpart A$100,000 to the New Zealand union for wages lost during the strikes at the Ports of Auckland.

An assistant branch secretary of the Maritime Union of Australia, Will Tracey, says members have pledged financial, industrial and political support to the New Zealand workers.

Mr Tracey says the union is seeking political support for the New Zealand union and is holding a meeting with the Australian Government.
