News reader and presenter

Chris Whitta has been part of the broadcasting scene in New Zealand for longer than he cares to remember. A brief foray into law in the mid-sixties convinced him there must be a better way and he joined the then NZBC in 1966.

In those days, announcers were required to do everything and usually all in one day! It was a brilliant way to gain experience by jumping in the deep end.

Forty years later, (and brief excursions into the world of small businesses and private radio aside) Chris is still behind the microphone and still enjoying every minute.
