American Samoa Manu'a representative, Mailo Sao Nua, is calling on the speaker of the house to respond to comments by Samoa's Prime Minister critical of the United States.
This comes after the U.S State Department described Samoa as a one party state and said this is a human rights concern.
Tuilaepa Sailele replied the United States should concentrate on their own internal problems first instead of meddling in the internal affairs of other countries.
Mailo says that American Samoa should respond to the PM's comments, as it is a US territory and Samoa's closet neighbor.
Mailo told KHJ News that Tuilaepa should apologise for his arrogant remarks.
But house speaker Matagi says Samoa is an independent nation in charge of its own affairs and that there is no need for American Samoa to respond to Tuilaepa's comments.
