Sport: Fiji Bati expect strong line-up for Pacific Test

The Fiji Bati say a berth in the Rugby League Four Nations tournament at the end of the year would be a fitting reward for the team's recent performances.

Fiji qualified for their second consecutive World Cup semi final at last year's tournament in the Northern Hemisphere, before being knocked out by eventual champions Australia.

In May they will square off against Samoa in the second annual Pacific Test, with the winner joining the New Zealand, England and the Kangaroos in the Four Nations.

The Chair of the Fiji National Rugby League, Peni Musunamasi, says the Bati expect to have close to a full strength squad available.

"I hope that we will get the same players that played for our World Cup [team] last year. The exception I think only players who are playing in the European competition but otherwise most of our players are available for the game against Samoa. Rick is already preparing for this match - he has been to Fiji already - and he will be meeting some of the players next week where there will be an award night with the Australian Fijian National Rugby League in Sydney so it will be a good chance to the players".
