Kiribati has landed its highest revenue yet from its fishing operation, netting over US$77 million.
Radio Kiribati reports it's the largest revenue take ever recorded in the country.
The newsletter also states in 2012, Kiribati earned more than US$51 million, meaning the 2013 period has netted an increase of US$32 million.
During that period, Kiribati operated three joint venture fishing operations with Japan and two with Korean fishing companies.
These joint ventures are another contributing factor to the high increase in 2013 revenue record.
