The Vanuatu Government says it has officially accepted the resignation of the public prosecutor, Kayleen Tavoa.
Ms Tavoa said in February she had decided to resign over allegations against her, and the government was to set up a commission of inquiry into cases that involve her office.
She said she wanted to defend the independence of her office, which is a constitutional institution of Vanuatu.
Ms Tavoa says the inquiry was not only about her but other prosecutors as well, but because she is the public prosecutor, she will appear on their behalf.
The Minister of Justice, Christophe Emmelee, says the government will advertise the position soon.
