10:40 am on 9 April 2014

Auckland City have begun the defence of their Oceania Champions League football title in convincing fashion, scoring all of their goals in the first half of a 3-0 triumph over Nadi FC in Lautoka.

Portuguese striker Joao Moriera opened his account in the 12th minute, former Korean League midfielder Daewook Kim doubled the advantage 11 minutes later before Emiliano Tade put the result beyond doubt five minutes before the interval.

But the physical nature of the game did take its toll, with Samuela Drudru shown a straight red card for his challenge on Auckland defender Angel Berlanga, who was stretchered off with a suspected leg fracture.

In the earlier game Amicale of Vanuatu downed Tahiti's Dragon 1-0 with Francois Sakama breaking the deadlock in the ninteenth minute.
