The football community in Oceania is mourning the loss of Samoa Football Federation President Toetu Petana.

The 51 year-old, who was also an Oceania Football Executive Committee member, passed away following a short illness.

Toetu Petana was elected to the position of SFF President in 2011 following the organisations emergence from normalisation.

OFC President David Chung says Toetu Petana dedicated his life to the betterment of football in Samoa and the Oceania region and his passing has saddened everyone connected with the sport.

Toetu served on the FIFA Associations Committee and FIFA Organising Committee for Olympic Football and was also the Treasurer for the OFC.

Toetu is survived by his wife Telesia and four children.
