A tsunami warning is now cancelled for the Solomon Islands after another large earthquake in the early hours of Monday morning.
A 7.4 magnitude quake struck at 20 kilometres depth at midnight Solomon Islands time, prompting hundreds to flee their homes in Honiara.
The National Disaster Department urged residents to move to higher ground for precaution.
Our correspondent Dorothy Wickham says children were taken out of their beds as parents panicked and fled.
Police officials could not say if there was damage.
A 7.6 magnitiude quake struck early on Sunday morning, following two strong quakes further north in Bougainville on Friday night.
