Two men have been sentenced to four years in prison in Papua New Guinea for stealing more than 15 thousand US dollars belonging to the Bank of the South Pacific.
The two prisoners Pongowen Popei and Mark Regione were each convicted upon guilty pleas of one count of conspiracy and two counts of stealing.
Pongowen Popei who was employed with the Bank of South Pacific, supplied internet banking details of two BSP's customers to his co-accused Mark Regione who then used the information to reset the customer's banking details.
Deputy Chief Justice Gibbs Salika says the intricacy of the offences show how tactful the prisoners were.
The scheme that the prisoners orchestrated took place twice over a period of 2 months.
