Demand that Solomons' flood victims return to work

2:02 pm on 23 April 2014

A Solomon Islands Palm Oil Company, Guadalcanal Plains Palm Oil Limited is demanding that its workers return to their jobs or they may be sacked.

Around 200 of the company's workers and their families were evacuated during the recent floods.

Their homes were filled to waist deep with mud and silt.

The company's general manager, Roger Benzie, says it has been three weeks since the floods and all workers must return to their jobs.

"The majority of the workforce returned as soon as they could and started cleaning their houses, those who never had other motives for remaining in the care centres."

Roger Benzie.

But representatives for the workers in the camps say they are not yet able to return.
