Fiji is in pole position after two rounds of the Oceania Under 20 Football Championship.

The hosts beat New Caledonia 2-0 in Suva on Sunday to make it back to back wins,

moving them two points clear of Papua New Guinea and Vanuatu.

PNG'S title hopes suffered a dent as they were held to a 1-1 draw by American Samoa.

Tempers boiled over late in the match when a melee led to a straight red card for Rafael Rocha along with a substitute from the opposing bench but the American Samoans held on for a deserved point, their first at this level.

Meanwhile Vanuatu played out a goalless draw against Solomon Islands.

The winner of the six-team tournament will join hosts New Zealand as Oceania representatives at next year's Under 20 World Cup.
