The Papua New Guinea national court is this afternoon expected to make a ruling on the validity of an arrest warrant served on the Prime Minister Peter O'Neill last week.
The arrest warrant stemmed from an extensive probe by the anti-corruption unit Taskforce Sweep into illegal state payments to a law firm.
Mr O'Neill, who subsequently disbanded Taskforce Sweep, described the arrest warrant as a political stunt.
A large public protest in Port Moresby this week called on the Prime Minister to resign to allow the legal case around the investigation to take its course.
Extra police have been deployed to the streets of the capital in anticipation of this ruling.
