There is still no sign of two Japanese tourists who went missing in Saipan in the Northern Marianas a week ago.

There have been extensive searches but the commissioner of the Department of Public Safety, James Deleon Guerrero, says there's no further indication of what has happened to Chinatsu and Natsuki Yamada.

The adult sisters were reported missing last Monday, after their rental car was recovered at Wing Beach.

The two had stayed at the nearby Mariana Resort and Spa for the weekend and were supposed to fly back to Japan last Monday.

Mr Guerrero says an aerial search was conducted by the US Coast Guard and Navy on Friday but a storm prevented a water search.
