Sport: Cooks advertises for rugby coaches

6:46 am on 9 July 2014

The Cook Islands Rugby Union is advertising for a a new sevens and fifteens head coach.

Current sevens coach Chad Tuoro named squad to compete in the Commonwealth Games sevens competition yesterday while Barry George coached the Cookies national team in their Rugby World Cup qualifying defeat against Fiji last month.

George says, despite the 108-6 scoreline, the team has made big progress in the past 12 months and he'd love the chance to continue that on.

"It was a learning experience for us and I took a lot of value out of it. I sat down and obviously watched the game already, and turned the tape off at 29 minutes and that's probably the motivation to carry on because we did show that we can actually get to a level".

Applications for the vacancies close this weekend.
