Unexploded ordnance was found on a Guam beach yesterday, by a man who was searching the waters with his metal detector.
The Marianas Variety reports that the man found an 18-inch-long American Navy projectile with an MK18 armed fuse.
Guam Homeland Security's spokesperson, Dee Cruz, says the object was found in the water about 30 feet from the shore in Tumon, between the Reef Hotel and the Westin Resort Guam.
Police immediately cleared the area of beachgoers and the ordnance was transported from the area so that it could be safely detonated.
The explosive is the 61st World War II unexploded ordnance found this year.
