The Cook Islands sevens team is hopeful a strong showing in Glasgow can help banish the memories of last month's heavy loss in Rugby World Cup qualifying.
James Raea, Simon Marcel and James Iopu-Johnston are backing up for the seven-a-side team, after being involved in the Cookies 108-6 thrashing by Fiji last month in Lautoka.
The Cook Islands will also be able to call on experienced duo Ash Drake and Koiatu Koiatu, who were unavailable for the World Sevens Series qualifying tournament in Hong Kong earlier this year.
The Chef De Mission for Team Cook Islands, Robert Graham, says the sevens team is going into Glasgow with a clean slate.
"They've put that 15s match behind them and they're focused on sevens. I think the main focus now is they've got a game to play in Glasgow and they've got to do a lot better, so I think the game that they just played recently, some of the boys, that's already gone, they've put that behind them, laid it to rest and moving forward".
The Cook Islands take on Kenya in their first group match at the Ibrox Stadium later tonight, and will also face Trinidad and Tobago and South Africa in the pool phase.
Meanwhile medal hopefuls Samoa open their campaign against Pacific neighbours Papua New Guinea.
