Funeral for American Samoa flood victim

The funeral service for a teenage girl in American Samoa who drowned after being swept from a stream during last weeks heavy rains is to be held tomorrow.

17-year-old Faavaeina Maualalo had been swimming in a stream during the heavy rains last Tuesday, and her body was found that night after being swept out to Fagaalu Bay.

She was the eldest of five children and was to be a senior in the new school year.

A wreath has been placed on the school fence in front of the gymnasium in her remembrance.
