New Caledonia and Malaysia have grabbed their first victories at this year's Oceania Futsal Invitational, to stay in contention for the title.

Hosts New Caledonia thumped Vanuatu 6-2 at Arene du Sud in Paita, in just their second futsal international on home soil.

Assistant coach Steeve Laigle, who was in charge for the match, says the players showed vast improvement from their opening draw against Tahiti and says the team can now cut loose in their next game against leaders New Zealand.

Meanwhile a revitalised Malaysia outclassed Tahiti 5-2 to fly the flag for the Asian Confederation.
