Papua New Guinea is to assist Solomon Islands with the rebuild of a torched police post at Mbabanakira in South Guadalcanal.
The post, which was burned down at the beginning of last year, had previously been used by the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands as well as Solomon Islands police.
The finance minister, Rick Hou, says the PNG government is providing additional funding of 1.4 million US dollars to develop police infrastructure in Mbabanakira and Lofang in the Shortland Islands.
