Sport: Frank Farina to help Fiji U20 footballers

12:14 pm on 11 September 2014

Former Australia and Papua New Guinea football coach Frank Farina has joined the Fiji Under 20 coaching staff as a technical advisor, in the lead-up to next year's FIFA Under 20 World Cup.

Farina was most recently in charge of Australian A-League club Sydney FC and says the opportunity to work with Fiji came at a good time, after he was relieved of his duties in April.

The 50 year old will work closely with current Fiji Under 20 coach Ravinesh Kumar and took part in his first training session with the team last week.

Fiji qualified for the World Cup in June by winning the Oceania Under 20 Championship.

They will join hosts New Zealand as Oceania representatives at the tournament in May and June of next year.
