The foreign ministers of Fiji and Papua New Guinea have reaffirmed the importance of their two governments wokring together to achieve regional progress.
Fiji's Ministry of Information says Fiji's Foreign Minister, Ratu Inoke Kubuabola met his Papua New Guinean counterpart, Rimbink Pato at the United Nations headquarters in New York.
It says Mr Pato congratulated Fiji on the successful conduct of its elections and his Fijian counterpart thanked PNG for its assistance in holding the election.
Papua New Guinea pledged millions of dollars to help fund Fiji's election.
It was also listed as one of the four countries leading the international monitoring group, but PNG didn't take up the position, with Mr Pato saying PNG was never invited.
