The Cook Islands care taker Prime Minister, Henry Puna, says his Cook Islands Party remains solid and he denies there is a constitutional crisis.
He says in a statement that rumours last week of internal splits in his party are gossip, fuelled by a core of Democrat insiders.
He says the destabilising efforts went as far as to issue threats to some staff that they would soon be out of office.
Henry Puna says he has held discussions with the One Cook Islands leader, Teina Bishop, and will continue to take direction from his caucus members and engage in talks if needed.
The Cook Islands Party is on 12, the Democrats have 9, the One Cook Islands have 2 members and the Mitiaro by-election decider, will be held on 11 November.
Parliament is due to resume on Wednesday this week.
