The New Zealand Breakers basketball rookie and Guam international hopeful Tai Wesley says he enjoyed the experience of beating the defending champion Perth Wildcats in their own backyard.

The Breakers beat the Wildcats 80-70 to open the NBL season over the weekend with Wesley contributing 5 pts and 8 rebounds off the bench.

Wesley says he was buzzing after the game.

"It was awesome. To go to Perth and have the crowd as big as it was, it was cool but you know, that's something that you put in your back pocket and we won and we move on from there. As far as the whole experience, it was awesome and I gained a lot of knowledge and experience and feel for this league and this team."

Wesley, who hopes to represent Guam in July says the focus now moves to friday and their game against Adelaide.
