Fiji's Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama says he will give priority to his supporters in carrying out developments in the country's north.
The Fiji Sun reports Mr Bainimarama saying it is only fair the government looks after its supporters first as without them his FijiFirst party would not be in government.
Speaking to civil servants on the northern island of Vanua Levu, he said the election results proved the party's development policies were not supported by people in some areas in the north.
He said they instead supported the rival Sodelpa party, which he said had based its campaign on what he called lies and divisive policies.
According to a government statement, Mr Bainimarama told the heads of ministries and departments his government would continue to strengthen its reforms in the north including new infrastructure such as roads, bridges, schools and hospitals.
