Fiji PM needs to start acting like democratic leader - FTUC

2:15 pm on 28 October 2014

The Fiji Trades Union Congress says the Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama needs to start acting like a democratically elected leader and treat all Fijians equally.

This follows comments by Mr Bainimarama that he would give priority to his supporters in carrying out developments in the country's north.

The FTUC president, Daniel Urai, says Mr Bainimarama needs to realise it is not his money to spend how he likes, but that of the taxpayer.

"He should act like a Prime Minister of any democratically elected country and do things or developments for the country as a whole, irrespective of who he likes or doesn't like. The fact is he is now a democratically elected Prime Minister, he should look act in that manner and look after everyone."

Daniel Urai has also raised questions about how Mr Bainimarama knows who voted for him and who didn't.
