Sport: Tuigamala to promote boxing in Samoa

12:35 pm on 29 October 2014

Former Manu Samoa and All Black star Va'inga Tuigamala will promote two international boxing competitions in Samoa, one to coincide with the historic New Zealand rugby test in July next year.

Tuigamala's Pound 4 Pound promotion company will also host an event in December this year.

The company has promoted two professional boxing events in New Zealand including a David Tua fight in 2010.

Tuigamala says he is confident Samoa can host similar events.

"There's enough resources here for big events and I see promoting here as no different. What I can bring is a bit of profiling. I know there is world champions in Samoa and I have no doubt that my role is to sift them through and find out the best of the very best."

The December 6 event in Apia will bring top boxers from Fiji and American Samoa as well as Tuigmala's two sons from New Zealand.
