The Tuvalu government says US$600,000 of funding from the European Union for climate resilent crop initiatives is important to the country's survival.
The Prime Minister Enele Sopoaga was at the recent opening of a four day agriculture workshop attended by farmers from all nine islands of Tuvalu.
He says the effects of climate change have already begun to make themselves felt withTuvalu one of the worst affected countries, and the nation has to adapt to survive.
The training covered improved planting systems, composting methods and seedling propagation, teaching farmers how to grow more resilient crops and secure food sources.
