Pike River inquiry gets extension

6:06 pm on 27 August 2012

The Royal Commission of Inquiry investigating the Pike River mine tragedy has been given an extra two months to finish its report.

Attorney-General Christopher Finlayson says an application for a judicial review of the hearings has caused the delay.

The report will cover the events leading up to the death of the 29 miners in November 2010 and recommend policy changes that could be made.

The extension won't incur any extra costs.
