Names of mine workers released

Police have officially released the names of the 29 Pike River Coal mine workers.

The men were trapped following an explosion at the mine near Greymouth on Friday 19 November. A second explosion occurred at 2.37pm on Wednesday 24 November. No one is believed to have survived.

Sixteen of the men were employed by Pike River Coal, while 13 were local contractors. The youngest of the miners was 17, while the oldest was 62.
