MPs send message of support to miners' families

5:42 pm on 23 November 2010

MPs have delivered a message of support to the families of the trapped miners.

All the parties in Parliament on Tuesday afternoon spoke in favour of a notice of motion expressing concern for the miners and those battling to save them, as well as their families and friends.

Prime Minister John Key says he hopes and prays the men are alive and well, but the situation is grave.

He says the thoughts of MPs are with the families and the sense of helplessness they must be feeling.

Labour Party leader Phil Goff paid tribute to the courage shown by the miners' families.
