Extra support teams in Greymouth

6:00 am on 25 November 2010

Extra Red Cross personnel are expected in Greymouth on Thursday to bolster support services for those affected by the Pike River mine disaster.

The Red Cross says up to six from Blenheim will join those at welfare centres in the town and at the mine.

Food will be supplied from a Red Cross caravan at the mine from 8am on Thuirsday.

About 30 members of an Air New Zealand special assistance team are also in Greymouth. Extra counselors are at the Salvation Army's drop-in centre.
