Public urged to understand give way changes

11:51 am on 15 March 2012

The Government is urging New Zealanders to make sure they understand changes to the give way rules before they come into effect this month.

Associate Transport Minister Chris Tremain says the changes will affect motorists, riders, pedestrians and cyclists.

He says a national advertising campaign and a leaflet drop to all households begins on Thursday.

From 25 March, drivers turning right at junctions will have to give way to those turning left. At present, the driver turning right has priority.
