Ministers seek more advice on Crafar farm sale

Cabinet ministers considering the Crafar farm sale have asked for more advice before making their decision.

In January this year, the High Court ordered the Government to reconsider a bid by the China's Shanghai Pengxin Group to buy the 16 North Island farms.

Land Information Minister Maurice Williamson and the Associate Finance Minister Jonathan Coleman received a fresh recommendation from the Overseas Investment Office last week.

Dr Coleman says a decision will not made before Easter, as more advice is being sought from officials.

Mr Williamson says the recommendations are long and very detailed and a decision should be made by the end of April.
