PM says no further developments in SkyCity deal

10:44 pm on 30 April 2012

Prime Minister John Key says there have been no further developments in a possible deal between the Government and casino operator SkyCity to build a convention centre in Auckland.

The Government is in negotiations with SkyCity to build a $350 million centre in return for a law change allowing it to operate more gaming machines.

Mr Key has come under increasing pressure from the Opposition to answer questions about his involvement in the deal.

He said on Monday the lack of progress is not bad news because the Government and SkyCity are still in discussions, but it is not good news because the deal has not yet been concluded.
