The National Party received the most donations in the lead-up to last year's election campaign.
The Electoral Commission has released details of donations to political parties.
National received $2,567,000, more than double the $920,000 in donations to the Labour Party.
The ACT party received $1,283,000, the Green Party $492,000 and the Maori Party $100,000.
Fletcher Building was one of the widest donors - giving $20,000 each to National, Labour, ACT, the Maori Party and the Greens.
Oil and gas company Todd Corporation gave $50,000 to both National and Labour.
